ADA Compliance for MI Statewide Independent Living Council (MiSILC)

Courtland Consulting Designs MiSILC

MiSILC wants a website that is inclusive of everyone and is compliant with the American Disability Act (ADA). The SILC team knew how they would like the site to look: clean and easy to navigate. However, Steve Locke and Tracy Brown were not sure how to achieve ADA compliance and looked to Courtland for guidance on how to make the site accessible for everybody.

Courtland has extensive knowledge on how to make a site ADA friendly and we have worked with many agencies and businesses on updating their site to meet ADA standards. We understand the nuances of color contrast ratio, site hierarchy, and alt tag requirements for graphics. To make sure the website is in line with Section 508 guidelines, Courtland implemented the Userway widget to ensure ADA Compliance and make an inclusive website that is user friendly for all their users.

MiSILC also wanted to launch the site as soon as possible to avoid too much down-time for their users. Luckily, this isn’t our first tight deadline. We have a process in place for such projects. We were able to start development and launch the site in two weeks.
