At Courtland, our Support Team answers a lot of different questions.  But one of the most frequent questions from our clients is – how to set up email on their iPhone.  We can usually help walk our clients through this setup over the phone in about fifteen minutes, but for those that don’t have the time to call, or just got a brand new phone and can’t remember how to do it, bookmark this blog and our support line can be with you 24/7.

Step-by-Step iPhone Email Setup

If you are adding an iCloud, Yahoo or Gmail account, then mail can automatically set up your account with only a username and password.

To get started, tap on Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account

Click on your email provider from the list, to add the account automatically.  If you do not see your provider, tap “Other,” at the bottom of the list to add your account manually.

Next, tap Add Mail Account

Enter your name, email address, password, and a description for your account.

After you fill in all fields, tap Next.  Mail will search for the email settings and finish your setup, and if it finds them, you can tap Done to complete setup. 

If Mail does not find your account settings, you will be taken to the next screen, where you need to enter them manually. 

First, select either IMAP or POP at the top of the screen.  (If you aren’t sure which one to choose, give us a call). 

Then, enter the information for Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server and tap Next.   If your email settings are correct, tap Save to finish.
