Ready for the Holiday Season? 7 Christmas Marketing Ideas

Courtland Consulting: Christmas Marketing Ideas

With the holidays just around the corner, it’s time to brainstorm some Christmas marketing ideas so your business stands out in the crowd.  Christmas is the primary marketing season for most businesses, resulting in the greatest influx of sales and new customers. You don’t want to miss out on this festive time of year.

Here are 7 creative marketing ideas on how to benefit from this year’s Christmas cheer:
  1. Add some Christmas Flair to Your Branding & Website

Generate some Christmas spirit by changing out your logo to a “Christmasy” version.  Add a wreath, change the colors to green and red, or add some other creative twist to your otherwise, traditional logo.  Also, add some Christmas-themed graphics, colors, and fun seasonal content to your website to stir up even more holiday cheer.

  1. Send out Greeting Cards (the real thing!)

Yes, you actually have to manually send out cards.  And, to take it a step further, you should (if you don’t have thousands of customers!) handwrite a personal note to each of your customers, wishing them a Merry Christmas and thanking them for being a loyal customer.  A personal handwritten note goes a long way to show you value your customers.

  1. Share Holiday Tips in Your Social Media Postings

This one is easy because Google, Pinterest, blogs, and other social avenues have lots of helpful tips that you can pull from.  Do remember, that if you grab someone’s content, to include a link to the original source, so you’re not stealing anything that’s not yours. (That would be like the Grinch who stole Christmas!)  Give credit where credit is due.

  1. Send out Seasonal Savings Coupons

Shoppers are already shopping, so why not encourage them to shop with you.  A “Christmas Thank You” coupon is not only a nice gesture, but it encourages people to walk through your business doors first, before shopping elsewhere.

  1. Get Involved in a Charity Event

Tis the season for giving, so don’t be a Scrooge. Participate in the real meaning of Christmas. Reaching out a helping hand to others shows your customers that you’re authentic, and you’re not just interested in dollar signs and numbers, but you truly value people. I’m sure you’re familiar with the age-old saying, “Give and it shall be given unto you…”  What goes around, comes around.

  1. Organize a Christmas-themed Contest

Hold a social media Christmas contest.  Run a contest for people to post a picture of the ugliest Christmas tree, the most deck-the-halls, lit-up house on the block, or pictures of themselves dressed as Santa, or Santa’s elf.   Maybe it’s an ugly Christmas sweater contest, or a snap-shot of their best handmade ornament.  Or, you can post a video contest, challenging people to make up their own rendition of a Christmas carol, or doing something unexpectedly nice for someone and capturing that special moment. Use your imagination!  And, of course, offer cool prizes.

  1. Create a Fun Christmas Video to Share

With videos being as easy as clicking a button on your phone, you can share a memorable Christmas experience of you and your staff with your followers.  Make sure it’s personal, fun, and engages people’s interest.  You can use it as a way to show the authentic side of your business and your staff.  Share it on your social media sites and in your blog. Have fun with it and your customers will enjoy the experience along with you.

Those are a just a few Christmas marketing ideas to capture the Christmas spirit and use the holidays to better connect with your customers.  Make this holiday season memorable for you, your staff, and your customers.
